BGI founder Irwin Barkan is a commercial real estate investor and developer of grocery- anchored retail shopping centers in the United States and West Africa. BGI’s focus within the State of Ghana included a desire to invest in the rapid growth of the regional economy through development of state of the art commercial/retail centers and a Safe Water Network in the Ashanti Region. Highpoint provided master planning services to BGI for potential shopping center developments located in Kumasi, Tema, Mallem, and Takoradi, Ghana; and Abuja, Nigeria.
